Cloverfield was good!!!

OK, I am a big Sci-Fi geek. So, naturally I wanted to see this movie even though I thought the trailers and all the hype may have been a portent of a crap movie. Luckily I was wrong. It was actually quite good. The cinematography was a bit nauseating but it actually worked very well. The monster was big and ugly and the little evil lobster things were scary too. I am sure there will be a sequel, the movie made buckets of money. Of course some of the dialog was cheesy and the acting was kind a bad at some points and the motivation for them to go to Columbus Circle was kind of lame but it was great to watch them get there. I would definitely recommend the movie to Sci-Fi/horror fans. Make sure you pay attention to one of the final scenes when the camera is looking out over the ocean...it may give a clue as to the creatures origin...

STARDUST

This movie turned out to be way better than I expected. It as cute and fun and the acting was good. I always love to see Michelle Pfiffer as the "bad guy". The guy lead is very cute and Robert Deniro's character was quite unexpected! Interestingly I didn't hate Claire Daines--I have ever since her crap performance in Terminator 3. Anyway I would highly recommend going to see the movie while it is still in theaters!

Live Free or Die Hard was awesome!!!

I am a big fan of the Die Hard movies and I like Bruce Willis as well (other favs: 5th Element, Hudson Hawk). This one was totally over the top...He should have been dead like 15 minutes into the film, but you can get over that and just enjoy. The craziness and the quality of the effects was fantastic! I was jumping out of my seat and exclaiming, "NO way, holy shit!"
It was very funny too, John MacClaine hasn't lost his sense of humor. He has lots of great one liners. The kid was good too--Justin Long (the Apple commercial boy). I swear he is Keanu Reeves little brother who actually took some acting lessons. Dudes you really should go see this movie if you want a great fun time at the movies.

It Rocked!!! Go see it!

OK I admit it...I am a geek and I love the Transformers. Apparently I am not alone--the movie has been a huge success. I really enjoyed it. It could have been really cheesy and corny, but it wasn't! It was surprisingly funny, especially the family interactions. Shia really did a good job...he is cute and very likable. The Transformers themselves were obviously totally beefed up from the cartoon, but they were great and had a lot of personality--even if it was a bit stereotyped. The special effects were amazing, especially during the scenes when they were transforming while in motion, whether it was Optimus on the road or StarScream in the air. There were a few little plot issues but they are easily overlooked. The premise was a bit different than the cartoon but it didn't trample over the cartoon cannon too much.
I highly recommend Transformers...I think even women and girls might like it. This movie is obviously just the beginning of a new franchise. The next movie is already in pre-production according to IMDB.com. I can't wait! ***Transform sound here***

1408

It started out pretty good. Stayed pretty good until about 2/3 of the way through...then started unraveling...I imagine it must have been fun and challenging for John Cusack to go through all of those emotions and only have the "room" to interact with. He has not aged well...remember how cute he was back in the 80's?

28 WEEKS LATER

I was very pleased with this sequel. I was afraid it might get very "hollywooded" but it didn't. It stayed quite true to the original. That said it was really good! It was not as scary the first but it was extremely tense and you knew that it was going to get ugly... I highly recommend you go see it. But warned though you will be spooked for a day or two.
