PERFUME is Magnificent
I just saw the new film PERFUME. It was truly amazing. I highly recommend it to everyone! It was ugly, but beautiful, tragic but glorious.
It is the story of a man destined to become a perfumeir at birth and his obsession with capturing and preserving the scent of a woman.
My emotional response to the film was very strong (if I had not been in a public cinema I would have been wailing). I couldn't quite place what the emotional response right away but I think it is the universal desire that we humans have for something wonderfully transcendent and rapturous to happen in our lives. And that is what happens to the town of Grasse. There are many more layers of meaning and feeling in the film that i will let you experience for yourselves.
The kind of emotion this film elicited reminds of other films such as Dancer in the Dark; Schindler's List; The Cook, the Thief , His Wife, and Her Lover; and The English Patient.
Go see it before its gone!
